Design Intent:

As educators delve into nurturing the development of children aged two years three months old, we realize that they are stepping into a critical phase. At this age, according to developmental psychology and pedagogical theory, 24-month-old babies are undergoing what's commonly known as an order-sensitive period. This necessitates an environment with structured rules and predictable routines so the young minds can grasp the essence of organization and stability.

In the community where we work in, there was a particular case that caught our attention. A baby from the neighborhood aged exactly 24 months was experiencing certn challenges within his household dynamics. He seemed to be feeling restless amidst the constant changes in the layout of common items at home. Oui Qing, one of our early childhood educators, stepped up to handle this challenge.

Oui Qing designed an intervention that consisted primarily of introducing a sense-making activity. She chose age-appropriate materials and tasks that would allow him to understand the concept of 'placement'. Through guided play with objects like puzzles, building blocks, or arranging toys in a systematic way, she facilitated his cognitive growth through of identifying similarities between different items.
