Symphony In Your School, Jr. is a comprehensive educational program designed to empower kindergarten and preschool educators with the skills necessary to integrate music into their curriculum effectively. This initiative enhance young learners' engagement through meaningful musical experiences that align with Missouri's Early Learning Standards.

Participating teachers enjoy a range of benefits including access to instruments, classroom materials, participation in specialized professional development workshops conducted by SLSO staff and musicians, three immersive in-school visits from our team, opportunities to bring students to the Tiny Tunes concert series, and ongoing support as they continue to integrate music into their teaching.
Core Curriculum Focus:
The program's curriculum is meticulously crafted to reinforce literacy skills through the creative use of music alongside children's literature, encouraging vocabulary expansion. Children also develop physical abilities through dance, body percussion, and instrument play, fostering better spatial awareness and motor skills.
Literacy Enhancement: By connecting music with reading materials, children are introduced to songs that can d in phonological awareness.
Physical Development: Engaging activities like movement and instrument playing help build both gross and fine motor skills essential for learning.
Social Emotional Learning: Through musical collaboration, children learn teamwork, confidence building, and the ability to express their emotions responsibly.
Integration of Mathematics Science:
Our educational approach exts beyond basic music education. Students are introduced to fundamental math concepts through pattern recognition in music composition.
