Classroom of the Future CFF serves as a hub for innovation in education by fostering collaboration among business, community, K-12 districts, and higher education institutions. Its mission is to support the creation of transformative learning programs that integrate proven business strategies and technology advancements into educational settings, enhancing student outcomes.
The San Diego Workforce Partnership collaborated with CFF to highlight how they are facilitating the integration of workforce development, education from kindergarten through post-secondary K16, non-profit sectors, and government entities in empowering educators to better prepare students for a path toward meaningful employment. Together, we hosted The Future Through World of Work conference, featuring keynote speakers and panel discussions that showcased successful strategies for unifying these diverse sectors.
CFF was established over two decades ago with the support of the San Diego County Office of Education and local business communities. Initially focused on rsing funds to build a regional technology hub in 1997, this initiative quickly evolved into a platform offering capacity building and student preparation around emerging technologies for more than 485,000 children and over 25,000 educators across San Diego County.
Among the challenges faced by our community, digital equity is of paramount concern. CFF joined forces with non-profit organization San Diego for Every Child to create an Equitable Distance Learning Taskforce med at ensuring that every child in our region has their basic needs met, including nutritious food, stable housing, adequate healthcare, quality childcare and education.
Furthermore, recognizing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on digital access and learning gaps, CFF launched a COVID-19 Public Education Response Fund. This initiative is dedicated to rapidly addressing urgent digital equity issues by:
Providing mobile hotspots, locked-down phone hotspots, devices, and headsets for students in need
Ensuring textbook avlability as an interim solution until students can connect online
Supporting low-cost broadband enrollment for eligible students, particularly those living beyond the reach of cell towers.
CFF's initiatives are designed to advance educational innovation through two key programs:
College Career Pathways Initiative: Focusing on establishing more inclusive pathways for San Diego students into higher education and workforce opportunities, with emphasis on best practices, career immersion experiences, educator skill development, and fostering partnerships between schools and businesses.
Innovation in Education Initiative: Acting as a resource center for innovative teaching methods that promote personalized learning, the strategic use of technology in classrooms, emphasizing educator capacity-building, and bridging business expertise with educational needs.
San Diegans can contribute to CFF's efforts by volunteering their time, making monetary donations through our website, offering in-kind donations like auction items or products for fundrsing events, or partnering with local businesses to sponsor initiatives and provide equipment that drives classroom innovation.
